As Chief Operating Officer of Brookfield Residential California, Adrian Foley oversees the entire California business portfolio for Brookfield Residential—one of North America’s largest publicly traded real estate entities, with land development and homebuilding operations in eleven of the most dynamic regions across the United States and Canada. In his major leadership role, Foley is responsible for spearheading strategic planning, maximizing investment opportunities and successfully resolving management issues in California’s premier markets, including the Bay Area, Sacramento, Los Angeles and San Diego. As a key member of the company’s Southern California management team, Foley lends his expert guidance and support to Housing and Land operations throughout the region.
Foley also serves as President of Brookfield Residential Southern California, where he is responsible for strategic planning oversight and management direction for one of Southern California’s most innovative and creative homebuilding teams. His current emphasis is on managing the group’s unique blend of development opportunities; expanding its presence in California’s rapidly growing Los Angeles, Ventura, San Bernardino and Orange County regions; and cultivating the potential of its multitalented individuals.
Foley has been an integral part of the Brookfield Residential Southern California’s Sr. Executive Team since 1996, and previously served as Senior Development Manager for Taylor Woodrow Homes where he was instrumental in the development of numerous award-winning neighborhoods in Orange, San Diego and Los Angeles Counties.
Born and raised in England, Adrian holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Building from the University of Greenwich. He has been married to his wife, Lisa, since 1990, and they have one son, Austin.
Mr. Richard T. Whitney has been the President of Brookfield California Land Holdings LLC, a subsidiary of Brookfield Residential Corp. since 2002 and also serves as Senior Vice President of Southern California Land. Mr. Whitney served as a Senior Vice President, Finance of Brookfield Residential Group. He joined Brookfield Properties in 1989.
David Bartlett, Vice President of Land Entitlement for Brookfield Residential Southern California, is the man who quite simply, makes Brookfield’s inviting neighborhoods possible. After 18 years as a planning consultant to land developers, property owners, public agencies, and homebuilders, Dave joined Brookfield Residential Southern California because he wanted to share in the genuine camaraderie that comes with the creation of new communities and homes that are truly unique. Through his friendly, yet persuasive negotiation skills, Dave is exceptional at securing local, state and federal permits for Brookfield, using his role as a political and government liaison to ensure Brookfield’s entitlement plans are legally bound. During the entitlement process, Dave frames Brookfield’s future communities within the context of existing policy so decision makers can see the entire picture of the formation of the community and it’s consistency with public policy and local goals and objectives.
Dave’s devotion to being a part of these inviting home communities stems from his own life, where his wife and three children live in a Brookfield neighborhood and home and know the value of a welcoming home life. After competing in a triathlon or a hiking adventure to the Grand Canyon, home is a haven of familiar comfort. Home to Dave is a place where memories are being made and futures are built. That’s why when it comes to Brookfield homes and communities, his passion goes beyond his Vice President title—he enjoys taking the time to walk through new communities with Brookfield homebuyers and enthusiasts, sharing in their moments of promise for their own futures. Dave has been a part of Brookfield for eight years. He holds his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Arizona. Dave is a registered professional green builder. He is past President of the Orange County Building Industry Association and is Vice Chairman of the City of Ontario Chamber of Commerce.

As Vice President, Business Strategies for Brookfield Residential Southern California, Nicole Burdette is responsible for leading and overseeing the Analytics and Market Data Group. In this capacity, she provides data and analytical services to the Southern California Land and Housing Groups as well as the Acquisition, Disposition, Sales and Marketing teams. Nicole’s extensive knowledge and keen understanding have enabled her to undertake an important role supporting the COO of the Brookfield Residential California region on items related to investment and business development within the state.
Nicole has been a member of the Brookfield team for 15 years since first graduating from college and has assumed different roles in a range of capacities. Having spent nine years in Land Acquisition prior to starting the Business Strategies department in 2013, Nicole exemplifies the company’s philosophy and desire for team members to evolve as they progress through the organization. She demonstrates the analytical skills and insight essential to help Brookfield Residential achieve a greater understanding of the market and the direction it will be taking in the years ahead.
Nicole graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Communication from Arizona State University and earned an MBA from National University. She is happily married and has one son, Merrick.
As Vice President – Land Acquisition, Cuoco is responsible for the strategic placement of Brookfield’s acquisition dollars and the development of new business opportunities for Brookfield’s merchant, land, and infill development business. Highly regarded by his peers, Cuoco has directed the land acquisition department since his appointment in 2001.
With over 20 years in the real estate industry, Cuoco has held positions with other leading homebuilders in Land Acquisition, Project Management and Finance, and has spent an extended period of time in banking, lending, and financial services with major California banks. Cuoco is also responsible for Land dispositions and Lot sales to third-party builders. Cuoco conducts negotiations on agreements for sale, disposition of assets and joint ventures for the group. Cuoco attended California State University, Fullerton, enjoys golf, the beach, sporting events, walking, travel and spending time with his family and friends.
As Vice President of Land Development, Glen is responsible for the planning and management of company land development operations while overseeing all related purchasing activities. Glen also is an integral part of the Land disposition and acquisition process utilizing his experience and knowledge in applying costing and construction schedule planning to the overall analysis.
Glen’s experience spans 30 years while employed with prominent land owners and developers located within the Southern California region. Most notably, he had effectively planned and managed construction operations for the 3500-unit master-planned golf course community of Talega in San Clemente as well as other local master-planned developments including Irvine Villages of Westpark and Northwood, Rancho Santa Margarita, Coto De Caza and Mission Viejo.
Glen’s ability to manage the most complex construction projects while establishing and maintaining productive relationships among contractors, professional consultants and public agency officials is unmatched in the industry. He possesses a California Contractors License – “A” (Engineering) and is a CMAA Certified Construction Manager. Glen enjoys travel, sports, music and spending family time with his wife Shirley and sons, Mike and Matt.
As Vice President of Marketing for Brookfield Residential Southern California, Mercedes Meserve takes a creative and pragmatic approach to creating the best places to call home. Her depth of knowledge of the marketplace and extensive experience are evident in the strategic, effective marketing efforts she oversees and implements. Mercedes remains focused on a brand message of passion, integrity and community with a commitment to enduring craftsmanship, detailed design, family-friendly warmth and creating an exceptional customer experience. She strives to bring distinction to every Brookfield community to elevate the company brand from other regional homebuilders and land developers.
Mercedes’s spectrum of responsibilities includes the creation and management of brand equity, product positioning and development, as well as merchandising, marketing communications, consumer research and innovation. Mercedes is driven to cultivate customers for life and her deep appreciation for their goals is instrumental in Brookfield Residential delivering referral-worthy homes and experiences. Multiple projects under her guidance have been recognized with regional and national awards for excellence in marketing, merchandising and community design. In 2011, Mercedes was honored with the prestigious Marketing Director of the Year Award presented by the Greater Sales & Marketing Council of Southern California.
Prior to joining the Brookfield Residential team, Mercedes worked in technology marketing at Quest Software. She graduated with honors from Vanderbilt University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Human and Organizational Development and an emphasis in Leadership and Organizational Effectiveness. She is happily married to a fellow Vanderbilt graduate and the mother of three young children.
As a former City Planner and Landscape Architect, John O’Brien is a natural in his role as Vice President of Development with Brookfield Residential SoCal. He understands that urban planning goes far beyond location choices and architectural styles. It’s about people. It’s about lifestyle. And as John transforms neglected properties into vital residential neighborhoods, his passion focuses on building strong communities that create a sense of place.
What defines John’s appreciation for community is his family. His wife and children have deepened his commitment to making every Brookfield project a place where families can make a true home for themselves; where people know their neighbors; where they can walk out their front doors and jog through the park, walk to the corner store, and eat at their favorite neighborhood restaurant. This is what John strives to create for Brookfield’s homebuyers…because it’s what he’d want for his own family.
From acquisitions, entitlements, product development, and operations to his public-spirited involvement in the communities he develops, John enthusiastically leads his team to create neighborhoods that complement the area, while also balancing style, craftsmanship, and of course, family.

John has been part of the Brookfield Residential SoCal team for 13 years. He received his BLA from University of Arizona and his Master of City and Regional Planning degree from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo. He is a member of the CRA housing committee and ULI.
As Vice President of Construction for Brookfield Residential Southern California, Jase Prewett brings his leadership skills and expertise to overseeing the housing group's purchasing, construction and customer care activities. In his leadership role, Jase encourages the team to concentrate on quality and operational efficiency, while always maintaining a focus on the customer. Having grown up in the industry, Jase has a natural passion for homebuilding and draws great satisfaction from seeing his customers enjoying their new Brookfield home.
Prior to joining the Brookfield team in 2003, Jase was employed at Pulte Homes and has also worked with companies in the Bay Area and Southern California specializing in construction forensic consulting, cost estimating and reconstruction.
Following his undergraduate education in Leadership Studies from the University of Alabama, Jase earned professional certificates in Construction Management from San Diego State University and Real Estate Finance, Investments and Development from the University of San Diego. Jase is a licensed California State Building Contractor and a Certified Green Building Professional. His industry honors include being awarded with the "Purchasing Manager of the Year" BIG Award from BIA San Diego in 2006 and 2008.
Jase and his wife Pamela are a personal testament to the beauty and quality of Brookfield Residential and are homeowners at the company’s Wyeth neighborhood. Family activities with their two children include youth sports, golf, adventure guides trips and weekends at the beach.
As Director of Design for Brookfield Residential Southern California, Linda Ryberg brings her outstanding creative, financial and management skills to this distinctive position. Her extensive responsibilities include managing operations at four regional design studios in Orange County, San Diego, San Bernardino and Los Angeles. On a daily basis, Linda oversees the design operations and strategic planning that are essential to support the design efforts of more than 500 homebuyers each year who wish to create beautiful interiors reflective of Brookfield’s signature style, warmth and details.
Linda possesses a keen aptitude and understanding of the complex financial and organizational aspects of running a design studio business, coupled with a passion for creativity. Her impressive skills and expertise have enabled Linda to undertake an important role among the Brookfield team and the company’s mission to deliver the best places to call home.
Prior to joining Brookfield Residential in 1997, Linda was employed with Centex Homes, Southwest Diversified and Kathryn Thompson Development. During this tenure that spanned a decade, she gained a well-rounded knowledge base of the design studio business and was responsible for facilitating the opening of eight design studios throughout Southern California, Northern California and Arizona.
Linda can testify firsthand to the quality and design that are built into each and every Brookfield Residential home, as she resides in the company’s own Sarasota neighborhood in Ladera Ranch with her husband, Dave.
As Vice President of Sales for Brookfield Residential Southern California, Rocky Tracy’s inspiring attitude and limitless optimism for Brookfield and for the success of his team is warmly contagious. His own background as a self-starting businessman at age 21 is, in itself, great motivation for the Brookfield team because a self-starter perspective is needed when it comes to selling a Brookfield home to a new customer… or helping a Brookfield enthusiast find their second or third home.
Rocky’s dedication to the leadership of his Brookfield sales team shows through the nurturing environment he creates in his department. He works closely with his team members—training them, refining skills, giving advice, and watching that advice take shape as his team brings new Brookfield enthusiasts into the family with every home sale. Apart from his direct and effective impact on his sales department’s success, Rocky also oversees pricing, staffing, projections, and sales absorption rates. He also oversees the related Escrow and New Home Concierge departments. In typical self-starter fashion, Rocky furthered his dedication to Brookfield customers with his creation of the ICE (Improving Customer Experience) team. ICE allows Brookfield to connect with customers to ensure every relationship is as solid as Brookfield’s craftsmanship, because Rocky knows that selling a Brookfield home is only the beginning.
